A chemical leak happened at a factory at Kallang Way on Tuesday (18 July), causing nine workers to be conveyed to hospital, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said.

The workers conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital are in a conscious and stable condition, added SCDF, which was alerted to the incident at 1.40pm.

The leak was shut off by a safety system at the premises at 166 Kallang Way before SCDF resources arrived at the scene.

“The incident is contained within a sealed production room on the premises,” SCDF said in a Facebook post.

“SCDF HazMat detectors currently show no reading of the chemical vapour in the production room. The surrounding environment is also safe with no traces of the chemical in the air,” it added.

A total of two fire engines, one fire bike, three support vehicles and two ambulances were despatched to deal with the incident.
