No. 16 Oregon State looks to bounce back on the road against Colorado

WHAT’S AT STAKE?

The Beavers try to get back on track after a 27-24 loss to Arizona last weekend. Both of Oregon State's losses this season have been by three points (38-35 at Washington State on Sept. 23). The last two games between Colorado and Oregon State in Boulder have gone into overtime. Colorado won 37-34 in double overtime in 2021. The Beavers overcame a 28-point deficit to beat Colorado 41-34 in OT in 2018. After a 3-0 start, the Buffaloes have gone 1-4. They remain two wins away from bowl eligibility in Deion Sanders’ first season at Colorado.

KEY MATCHUP

Oregon State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei does a little a bit of everything with his arm and running ability. He’s thrown for 1,791 yards and 17 touchdowns this season. He’s also rushed for 134 yards and five scores. At Clemson last season, Uiagalelei threw for 2,521 yards and 22 TDs in 13 games. Colorado safety/linebacker Trevor Woods will be called upon to help contain Uiagalelei. Woods leads the Buffaloes in tackles.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Oregon State: Jack Velling leads FBS tight ends with eight receiving touchdowns. It’s also a single-season record for the position at Oregon State. Velling had one catch for a 60-yard score in a 42-9 win over Colorado last season in Corvallis.

Colorado: CB/WR Travis Hunter rarely comes off the field. He had quite a night at UCLA on defense with two interceptions. He’s the first Colorado player with multiple picks in a conference game since Tedric Thompson in 2016 against Utah.
