In a recent interview with Etalk, Kuang was asked about fans wanting Mescal, 28, in the upcoming movie based on the popular book and if she could share whether or not he would be in the project.
Kuang shared that they are “not having those conversations” about casting yet since the project is still in the early development stages. “I just delivered a draft to the studio… and awaiting notes on that,” she confirmed.
However, she did say, “I love all the ideas and I love all the enthusiasm,” when it comes to Mescal’s potential casting.

Henry told Variety in March that while she “can’t confirm or deny anything with casting… I will say that those are two of my favorite ‘Irish’ actors.”
“I actually saw them being discussed [online] for several different roles — and I definitely have a favorite,” Henry teased in her interview. “I mean, they’re great, they could do anything.”

Both Mescal and Edebiri, 28, also shared their interest in appearing alongside one another in a future project. At the Met Gala 2024, Edebiri told Entertainment Tonight that she was open to working on a rom-com with Mescal and that “the chances are dependent on both of our schedules and if we get a good script.”
Mescal previously told Awards Watch in 2023 that in the next five years, he is going to “set myself a challenge to do maybe, like, a rom-com with Ayo or something like that would be cool.”
