Nora deals damage to touristic Mexican town

Phone footage captured the dramatic moment a house collapsed into the Pitillal River in Puerto Vallarta on Sunday. Locals told Reuters the house had already been evacuated before it collapsed.

Local authorities confirmed that the body of a young boy was found under a partially collapsed hotel.

Elsewhere, local media showed pictures of flooding, felled trees, damaged roads and power lines across several states.

Earlier, Nora was a Category 1 hurricane, the lowest rating on a five-step scale.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Nora will likely produce additional heavy rainfall along the west coast of Mexico from the states of Jalisco to Sonora through the late week. It could also produce life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides, as well as storm surge and large waves.
