North West Performs ‘I Just Can’t Wait to Be King’ as Young Simba During “The Lion King” Live Concert

The 10-year-old is starring in the two-day live production at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on May 24-25

North West is taking to the stage in The Lion King!

The 10-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, performed as Young Simba during Disney’s The Lion King live concert in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary at The Hollywood Bowl stage in Los Angeles on Friday, May 24.

North — who was supported by family members in the audience — was photographed beaming onstage while dressed in character as the lion cub during the production as she sang “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” from the animated film.

The preteen wore a light yellow furry hood and zipped sweater with matching shorts and furry boots while appearing as Young Simba. North was also joined by her costar Jennifer Hudson onstage during the concert.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) from the performance, North jumped up from behind a stack of prop leaves held by the dancers to sing the song. She then walked along the stage and performed some dance moves along with the dancers, who were also dressed in costume.

Meanwhile, North’s mom Kardashian, 43, posted a photo on her Instagram Stories on Friday, May 24, Kardashian of sweet treats gifted to North in celebration of her stage debut. The snap showed The Lion King-themed cookies, featuring an iced image of North beside Young Simba in icing.

The reality star also shared images of flowers that had been gifted to her daughter ahead of the performance on her Instagram Stories, including a bouquet from North's great-grandmother Mary Jo 'MJ' Shannon and one from Kris Jenner.

North was announced to be joining Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event , a two-day live event, earlier this month. The concert runs from May 24 to May 25, along with a special set airing on Disney+ named The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl, according to a press release.

Kardashian and West's daughter stars in the production alongside the franchise's original members Billy Eichner, Bradley Gibson, Ernie Sabella, Jason Weaver, Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, newcomers Heather Headley and Lebo M. and Hudson, 42, as a special guest.

North’s latest performance comes after performing the song “Talking” from her dad Kanye’s new albumVultures onstage during the rapper’s Rolling Loud set in March. The performance came a week after the 10-year-old announced the upcoming release of her debut album.
