From yoghurt to cheesecake, it seems like every food is getting a gin makeover these days, and the latest transformation has resulted in these gin and tonic teacakes (aka the afternoon tea item of dreams).

Created by Roberts Bakery, and named Gin & Tonic Fun Buns, the treats promise a 'tasty, modern-day twist on the traditional teacake'.

Each contains a dash of gin and tonic and a lemony zing, which we can imagine would be just divine once they're toasted and slathered in butter.

A four-pack of the buns costs 95p, and they are available from selected Asda, Morrisons and Co-Op stores.

Alison Ordonez, Innovation Director at Roberts, said: 'There's no denying that we're a nation of gin connoisseurs with UK sales surpassing £1billion for the first time ever last year – that's around 40 million bottles a year and enough to make more than one billion G&Ts.'

We think we've found our new breakfast/elevenses/mid-afternoon snack of choice!
