One Piece remake announced by Netflix
One Piece spoilers follow.
A remake of the One Piece manga series, under the title The One Piece, has been announced by Netflix.
News of the project, which is a remake of the original animated show (which is still airing itself), was revealed at manga and anime fan convention Jump Festa 2024 and reported by streaming service Crunchyroll.
The One Piece will be produced by Wit Studio for the 25th anniversary of the anime and has already released a brief teaser of the project, hinting at its new animation style. It will be distributed by Netflix.

George Wada, president of Wit Studio, wrote a message to fans on YouTube, saying: "We need your help to excite everyone around the world once again with the classic story of One Piece, a treasure of Japan.
"Are you ready to join our staff in this new adventure? We are currently recruiting new crew members for this project. We're looking forward to your participation!"
No casting or release date has been announced.
The series is not to be confused with Netflix's recent live-action adaptation starring Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd and Mackenyu, which was released in August this year.
All three projects are based on the original manga written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, and follow the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates as they search for the mystical One Piece Treasure, left behind by King of the Pirates Gol D. Roger.
The live-action One Piece dominated Netflix’s charts with its rubbery charm, and was renewed for a second season a month after its release.
One Piece is available to watch now on Netflix. The One Piece anime is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
