The One Show's Gethin Jones has opened up on a terrifying stalker ordeal which lead to him needing security.

During an interview on the Rig Biz podcast, the popular presenter revealed he was being stalked during his time on children's show Blue Peter.

"I did, back in Blue Peter. It was weird to the point where I had some security, which I thought was a lot," he replied when asked if he'd ever experienced stalking.

Jones then went to reveal that he'd thought the broadcaster's decision to hire security was "a lot" at the time, but he accepted the decision, adding: "Obviously they knew stuff I didn't."

Asked if he found the experience "terrifying", Jones replied "Yes, of course it is. You go and do your job, then you think that's it. But for whatever reason..."

The TV presenter also reflected on the relationships that audiences form with TV presenters, saying that viewers can often feel more entitled to a presenter's time outside of the television shows.

"I think it's interesting on telly... The medium of TV is really powerful, and people think they know you really well and there's occasions where you maybe don't get back to someone because you just don't, because you don't know them and they find that offensive," he said.

"And there are people who have got all sorts of issues as well, so you've got to be really careful."
