Only Murders in the Building loses Nathan Lane for season 3
Only Murders in the Building season 3 will not feature Nathan Lane as Teddy Dimas, it has been confirmed.
The star has been a staple of the Hulu show since it began in 2021, with Teddy central to the mystery in season one, as well as a family secret concerning Oliver (Martin Short) in season two.
However, Lane has now confirmed to Deadline that he was unavailable to film the upcoming third season due to a prior Broadway commitment.

Fans need not despair though, as boss John Hoffman has left the door open to a return in a potential fourth season, while Lane said he would love to come back to the series.
The actor has also just earned a second Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in the show following a win last year.
"I get old but [being nominated for an Emmy] never gets old," Lane responded to the nod. "I feel very grateful and lucky just to be alive and that I'll be invited to the big party."

Hoffman added: "I just got a text from Nathan and I told him how much it feels like he's a staple now and indefatigable. He was very sweet, his text said, 'Thank you for the gift of Teddy Dimas.'
"We've had such an incredible guest cast like Shirley MacLaine from Season 2 coming in and widening up that part in a way nobody else could. And Nathan doing the same with Teddy.

"There's no way to predict the elevation that happens with the incredible cast and the magic of this trio pulling it all together. As sweet as these awards are, there's nothing quite like the reward that we get every day making the show."
Elsewhere in the interview, Hoffman spoke about Meryl Streep joining Only Murders in the Building in season three, admitting that the Oscar-winning star was kept largely in the dark about the nature of her character during filming.
Only Murders in the Building season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, August 8. Seasons 1 and 2 are available now on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
