Oscar Scorecards: Nominations By Film And Distributor
Universal’s Oppenheimer led all nominees for the 96th Oscars on Tuesday with 13, one short of tying for the most nominations in a single year.
Meanwhile, Netflix saw the most nominations for a distributor this year with 18, led by the success of Maestro, Nyad and Society of the Snow. Three distribs were second overall with 13 noms apiece: Apple Original Films (led by Killers of the Flower Moon), Searchlight (led by Poor Things) and Universal (all from Oppenheimer).

Among companies, Disney’s swath of distributors (20th Century Studios, Disney+, Hulu, Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, National Geographic Documentary Films, Pixar Animation Studios and Searchlight Pictures) had 20 noms to pace the company rankings, followed by Comcast/NBCUniversal with its Universal and Focus Features seeing 18 noms between them.
Warner Bros had eight noms (all for Barbie), while A24 and Neon had seven apiece.
A24 is the reigning Oscar Best Picture distributor with 2023’s winner Everything Everywhere All at Once, while Neon won in 2019 with Parasite. Both have Best Picture nominees this year in The Zone of Interest and Past Lives for A24, and Cannes Palme d’Or winner Anatomy of a Fall for Neon. They are joined in the marquee category by Oppenheimer, Barbie, Poor Things, Orion/Amazon MGM’s American Fiction and Focus Features’ The Holdovers.
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer scored noms in Best Picture, Director, Actor, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Costume Design, Film Editing, Makeup and Hair Styling, Original Score, Production Design and Sound.
The record for most noms for a film in a single year is jointly held by All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land. The most wins ever is 11, done three times, by Ben-Hur, Titanic and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
