SINGAPORE — A 45-year-old Singaporean man was arrested for suspected drug offences during an anti-drug operation conducted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on 17 April (Wednesday).

CNB said on Thursday that it seized a total of 2,682 grams of heroin, 20g of Ecstasy, 10g of Ice (methamphetamine), 10g of cannabis, and two Erimin-5 tablets during the operation.

According to CNB, the estimated value of these drugs is S$286,000. The amount of cannabis, Ice, and heroin seized could feed the addiction of about 1,280 abusers for a week.

Arrest made near MacPherson lane

The suspect was arrested near MacPherson Lane on Wednesday morning, with CNB officers initially seizing a black pouch containing around 239g of heroin.

They later conducted a raid on the man's hideout at nearby Jalan Chengkek, where the rest of the drugs were found.

It is an offence for a person to traffic in a controlled drug, or to offer to traffic in it on anyone's behalf, the bureau added. A person found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of heroin faces the mandatory death penalty.

Investigations into the suspect's drug activities are ongoing.
