Paddington musical in the works with McFly star songwriting
Paddington is set to get the musical treatment, with the beloved bear set to head to the stage with help from McFly star Tom Fletcher.
As we await the third movie next year, it has been announced that Paddington – The Musical is in development, which is planned to premiere in 2025.
The production is based on the books by Michael Bond and the movie series, and is currently in the workshop stage – though further details such as storyline and casting remain under wraps for now.

Fletcher is set to provide the music and lyrics, with a book by Jessica Swale and Luke Sheppard directing.

"The magic of Paddington is that, through his wide-eyed innocence, he sees the very best in humanity, reminding us that love and kindness can triumph if we open our hearts and minds to one another.

StudioCanal CEO Anna Marsh added: "We could not be more delighted to see our beloved Paddington take to the stage shepherded by a talented and visionary team in Sonia and Eliza.
"They have opened their hearts to show a deep understanding and passion for Paddington that will no doubt transpire on stage and ensure that his adventures, created by Michael Bond over 60 years ago, continue to charm audiences in such a new and innovative way."

Paddington is set to return to the big screen in next year's Paddington in Peru, which will see the beloved bear head back to his homeland to visit Aunt Lucy in a home for retired bears.
As well as several returning cast members, including Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington, the threequel will welcome the likes of Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas, Carla Tous and Emily Mortimer to the cast, the latter replacing Sally Hawkins as Mrs Brown.
Paddington in Peru will be released in UK cinemas on November 8, 2024 and in US cinemas on January 17, 2025.
