Paddington Returns in Adorable Trailer for Third Film, “Paddington in Peru”, Starring Olivia Colman

'Paddington in Peru' releases Nov. 8 in theaters across the U.K. and Ireland; it opens in the U.S. on Jan. 17, 2025

Ben Whishaw is back to voice the beloved bear Paddington once more!

StudioCanal released the trailer for the upcoming third Paddington movie, titled Paddington in Peru, on Wednesday, June 12. Whishaw, 43, reprises his role as the animated bear among a star-studded live-action cast that includes Olivia Colman and Antonio Banderas, as Paddington and the Brown family — portrayed by Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Samuel Joslin and Madeleine Harris — travel to Peru to visit Paddington's aunt Lucy.

The trailer opens with a humorous montage as Paddington tries to take a passport photo. Soon enough, he and his family arrive in Peru, where they are met by a charismatic boat captain (Banderas, 63) and Colman's character, a nun who appears to be friends with Paddington's aunt Lucy.

Lucy seems to have gone missing after taking a trip into the Amazon, it's soon learned. Paddington and his family resolve to take to the jungle and find her, with an amusing and heartfelt adventure awaiting them.

The movie "brings Paddington's story to Peru as he returns to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears," according to an official synopsis for the film. "With the Brown Family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and up to the mountain peaks of Peru."

Paddington in Peru is the third film in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Paddington series, based on the children's book character created by British author Michael Bond. Filmmaker Dougal Wilson makes his feature film debut after directing the series' third installment. He takes over from Paul King (Wonka), who directed and cowrote the series' first two movies.

Mortimer, 52, takes over a role portrayed by Sally Hawkins across Paddington and Paddington 2; Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent and Imelda Staunton all reprise their roles from the other two movies, while Carla Tous also joins the cast for the new film.
