Paddy McGuinness 'lands new BBC travel show'
Paddy McGuinness has reportedly landed a new travel show.
The 50-hear-old star - who has had a run of bad luck with the BBC axing shows like 'A Question of Sport', 'Top Gear' and 'I Can See Your Voice' - is set to journey across Europe for a new travelogue airing on BBC One and iPlayer later in 2024.
A source told The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: "He’s had mixed fortunes recently with several of his shows getting the chop, but it looks like Paddy’s luck is changing.
"This travelogue is a bit of a departure for Paddy and the programme might see him team up with a buddy for the trip.
“Either way it’s the latest in several bits of good news for his career.”
The former 'Phoenix Nights' actor recently became the new host of BBC Two documentary series 'Inside The Factory', while his Channel 4 game show 'Tempting Fortune' looks to be getting a second run.
Previously, Paddy - who is known for hosting the likes of 'Take Me Out' and starring in his pal Peter Kay’s sitcom 'Phoenix Nights' and spin-off 'Max and Paddy's Road To Nowhere' - presented BBC’s ‘Top Gear’ alongside Chris Harris and Freddie Flintoff.
However, the programme was paused indefinitely after the England cricketer was involved in a life-threatening accident while filming the show.
In a statement, the BBC said: “We’ve agreed with BBC Content that given the exceptional circumstances, we will be resting production of the Top Gear UK show for the foreseeable future.”
But broadcaster did suggest the programme would return at a later date.
They continued: “We’ll continue to support the programme’s core production team and will be leaning on their expertise in a broader production capacity until such time as the UK show can restart.”
