Pak Cricket Board Charged Rs 27 Lakh For Biryani Served To Security Staff Hired For New Zealand Team: Reports

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spent Rs 27 lakh to serve biryani to the security officers that were hired for the protection of the New Zealand players for the slated series between the two countries.

PCB had roped in five SPs and more than 500 police officers for the overall security of the Kiwis along with the Pakistani Army in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Now, the board has to spend a whopping Rs 27 lakh for the food expenses of the officers who were put in charge of duty of the Kiwis.

The New Zealand team had abandoned the Pakistan tour after they received an intel of a prospective terrorist attack outside the Rawalpindi Stadium moments prior to the commencement of the first ODI on 17th September.

The PCB then arranged for a chartered flight to fly the Kiwis back to New Zealand on 18th September.

“The side was to play Pakistan this evening in the first of three ODIs in Rawalpindi, before moving to Lahore for a five-match T20 series,” the NZC’s official statement read, as reported by News18.

It added, “However, following an escalation in the New Zealand Government threat levels for Pakistan, and advice from NZC security advisors on the ground, it has been decided the BLACKCAPS will not continue with the tour.”
