The parents of 6-year-old Lucy Morgan, who died in a “freak accident” while playing with her brother earlier this month, are “grateful” for the support they’ve received since her death.

In a statement shared on behalf of Jesse and Bethany Morgan, Jill Anthony, who organized the Morgan family’s GoFundMe page, told PEOPLE, “They have received money from the fundraiser and are grateful for the outpouring of love and support.”

The page was created on June 4, the day before Lucy succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the June 1 incident, which Jesse described in his blog as a “freak accident.”

As of June 11, the fundraiser has raised over $131,000 of its $150,000 goal, which is intended to provide the family with “extravagant financial support - to help pay for meals while they are away from home, lodging for family, medical costs … whatever they need,” per the GoFundMe's description.

The incident occurred as the Morgan family — Jesse, Bethany and their children: Silas, Shiloh, Lucy and Atticus — were wrapping up their family vacation in Maine, according to Maine State Police.

In Jesse’s blog, New Creation Living, the New Jersey pastor said the family was enjoying the “beautiful” morning at their lake cottage in Limerick, Maine on the last day of their vacation when the 6-year-old was fatally injured while playing outside with her siblings.

“We were eating a quick lunch by the lake and the kids decided to try badminton in the front yard,” he wrote in a blog post. “Bethany and I were relaxing in the back when we heard screaming.”

As the kids played, Lucy’s brother’s racket broke. Specifically, its aluminum shaft became dislodged from the wooden handle, “causing the shaft to strike the girl in the head, piercing through her skull,” police later learned.

First responders arrived on the scene around 12:00 p.m. local time and transported the 6-year-old to a Sanford medical center, then to another in Portland, where she “went right to the operating room" and surgeons "removed part of her skull to relieve pressure and deal with her injury,” Jesse said.

The pastor continued to share updates about Lucy on his blog, at one point sharing that the family was “hanging on” but “can’t imagine life without Lucy-goose.”

On June 4, the pastor shared that “there is a very good chance that she passes away and meets Jesus within 24 hours." The next day, Lucy died from her injuries, according to both police and the blog.

Following her death, Jesse opened up about Lucy’s life in an interview with Fox News. The father of four told the outlet that the 6-year-old had a “very bubbly” personality, but could also be “reserved at times.”

"Once you got to know her, she was very, very outspoken and a lot of fun,” he said, adding, “She was a tough kid.”

Green Pond Bible Chapel, the New Jersey church where Jesse is a worship and discipleship pastor, will hold a funeral service for Lucy on June 15. The service will also be streamed live on the church’s website.
