Paul McCartney turns 82 with birthday wishes from John Lennon’s son and others

Rock ‘n’ roll royal Sir Paul McCartney celebrated turning 82 years old Tuesday with birthday wishes from family, friends and fans including Julian Lennon.

“Hoppy Birdy, Uncle Paul!” Lennon wrote. “Only love… Jude x.”

Lennon included a clip of the Beatles song “Hey Jude,” which McCartney wrote to console him in 1968 when Beatles co-founder John Lennon — Julian’s dad — divorced the boy’s mom, Cynthia. Lennon is now 61.

British model Pattie Boyd, who married Beatles’ guitarist George Harrison at the height of the band’s 1960s fame, marveled over McCartney’s eternal youth.

Happy Birthday to the one and only @PaulMcCartney,” she posted on X. “I just saw an announcement for some shows later in the year… how does he keep on doing it?!”

Harrison died in 2001, but an official Instagram account continuing his legacy paid tribute to McCartney with a simple “Happy Birthday” wish.

And McCartney’s big day wasn’t lost on the birthday boy himself.

They say it is my birthday,” McCartney wrote on Facebook. “And I’m looking forward to being spoilt rotten by my loved ones!”

Even at 82, McCartney shows no signs of slowing down. The Liverpool, England, native announced Monday he planned to perform his first U.K. tour dates since 2018. He heads to Manchester in December for two shows before heading to London for a couple more gigs.
