The late, great Paul O'Grady has been remembered by his widower Andre Portasio on what would've been their sixth wedding anniversary.

Sharing four pictures from their ceremony at the Goring Hotel in London, former ballet dancer Portasio told his Instagram followers that today (August 5) marked a "bittersweet moment" following the loss of his husband earlier this year.

"It's been five months since [Paul] passed away, leaving a massive void that words can hardly describe," his caption read.

"Yet, as I reflect on the 18 beautiful years we spent together, I cherish the memories that brought immense happiness into my life.

"Paul was my rock, my confidant, and my partner in every adventure. Our journey together was nothing short of extraordinary. He taught me the true meaning of love, and I am forever grateful for the precious time we had together.

"Today, I honour his memory by cherishing the love we shared and the legacy he left behind," Portasio continued.

"Our journey together may have faced an untimely ending, but the impact he had on my life will remain eternal.

"I take this opportunity to thank my friends, my family and the public who have been a pillar of support during this trying time. Your compassion and understanding have made this period a little less daunting.

"Here's to you, Paul, my forever partner, and to the 6 years of marriage that shaped the happiest time of my life. Until we meet again…. #love #wedding #anniversary."

A number of the couple's friends shared their reflections in response to Andre's message.

"It was a wonderful day and I remember it so well," wrote Lord Michael Cashman, a former EastEnders star who's now also a member of the House of Lords and LGBTQ+ rights activist.

"Love remains and sustains us. As we live so too do they. As we laugh so they laugh. Forever changed by love."

Another former EastEnders star, Cheryl Fergison, replied: "He's always with you and in your life Andre ... Happy Anniversary, and I know he will be sending his love & strength to you ... Paul you're always missed so very much."
