Paul Walter Hauser Reveals What He Was Eating on Stage When He Won His Emmy
The 'Black Bird' star took home the award for outstanding supporting actor in a limited series or movie
Paul Walter Hauser knows any time can be snack time.
The star, who took home the award for outstanding supporting actor in a limited series or movie at the 75th annual Emmy Awards on Monday thanks to his role in Black Bird, made sure to get in a little treat ahead of accepting the honor.
Hauser could be seen chowing down on mango slices moments before he was announced the winner. Backstage in the press room after accepting his award, Hauser revealed that the snack choice is an inside joke with his manager and agent.
"We love mangos [and] my agent handed me a bag of dried mango. [I said] whether I win this, I'll eat this. A little shout-out to my men-goes over there," he explained.
Hauser further elaborated that mangos are a "good luck charm."
"We love mangos. So that was a thing my agent at CAA came up with. He handed me a bag of dried mango as a good luck charm, and I was like, ‘I’m going to eat this. Whether I win or not, I’m going to eat this on camera,’" he said, according to EW.

The award is Hauser's first Emmys win and comes after he secured a Golden Globe Award for best supporting actor – series, miniseries or television film and a Critics' Choice Television Award for best supporting actor in a movie/miniseries in 2023, both also for his work on Black Bird.
