‘Percy Jackson And The Olympians’: Disney+ Series’ Premiere To Also Stream On Hulu

In another sign of Disney+ and Hulu’s deepening ties, the first episode of Disney+’s high profile new original series Percy Jackson and the Olympians will launch on Hulu, concurrent to the series’ two-episode premiere on Disney+ Dec. 20. The announcement was made by Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan at the series’ premiere in New York Wednesday night.

The first episode will be available on Hulu through Jan. 31 while new episodes of Percy Jackson will be released weekly on Disney+.

Disney used a similar strategy recently with Disney+’s Star Wars series Andor, whose two-episode premiere was also made available on Hulu, and with the Disney+ original series Goosebumps, whose entire first season was shared on both streamers.

The moves come as Disney just rolled out a beta version of the “one-app experience,” combining Hulu — now fully owned — and Disney+ for bundle subscribers. The merged app will officially launch in March.

In the series, whose trailer has garnered 90M views and nearly 2 million engagements, Percy Jackson must journey across America, outrunning monsters and outwitting gods, to return Zeus’ master bolt and stop an all-out war. With the help of his quest mates Annabeth and Grover, Percy’s journey will lead him closer to the answers he seeks: how to fit into a world where he feels out of place, and find out who he’s destined to be.

The show stars Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood.

Created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is executive produced by Steinberg and Dan Shotz alongside Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, The Gotham Group’s Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Monica Owusu-Breen, Anders Engström, Jet Wilkinson.
