Percy Jackson and the Olympians has paid tribute to its late star Lance Reddick.

In the series – which is based on Rick Riordan's best-selling novel The Lightning Thief and is a separate reboot to the 2010 and 2013 films starring Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario – the late Lance Reddick stars as Zeus in one of his final TV appearances following his death at 60 in 2023.

Now, the final episode of the series' eight-episode arc on Disney+ has included a tribute to Reddick.

It contains a black card that reads: “In loving memory of Lance Reddick.”

Following Reddick's passing, Riordan penned his own tribute to the actor, titled 'An Appreciation for the King of Olympus'.

“It will be difficult working on those scenes in which Lance appears — not just because we mourn him, but because they will remind us of how much brilliance we have lost," he wrote in 2023.

"At least it’s comforting to know that we’ll be able to share that performance with Lance’s millions of fans, and we will get to see his artistry in action one more time. As for me, I have trouble believing such a force of nature could ever really be gone.

"I will choose to think that maybe Mount Olympus simply had need of their king. Godspeed, Mr. Reddick, and thank you."

Riordan has already shared an update on season two of the series, which is likely to be based on the second book in the series, The Sea of Monsters.

"We are doing what we can to prepare [for] the eventuality that we get the green light. We don't know. It is not official," he said after the premiere of season one (via Screen Rant).

Riordan continued: "You know, we're getting reactions like we've had tonight, amazing reactions everywhere... so, if I was the Oracle, I would say the Auguries are good.

"But, we had started writing what those episodes would look like, sort of doing a series format, talking about the first few episodes, and that's about as much as we can do right now until we get the go-ahead."

He then encouraged everyone who loves the show and wants to see more to encourage their friends to stream it.
