‘The Perfect Couple’ Trailer: Nicole Kidman Leads a Wealthy (and Killer?) Nantucket Family in Netflix’s Murder Mystery Series

What could go wrong in one of the wealthiest perfect families on Nantucket? Netflix has dropped the trailer for “The Perfect Couple,” an adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s eponymous murder mystery book.

Set to Franki Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” the trailer sees novelist Greer Garrison Winbury (Nicole Kidman) and her husband Tag Winbury (Liev Schrieber), the heads of a seemingly perfect family. Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson) is set to marry into their wealthy clan.

Greer (Kidman) is the mom of Amelia’s fiancée Benji Winbury (Billy Howle) and has expensed their wedding, set to be the toast of the season. But, it seems like the family has some secrets buried.

“The key to this family is just stay on the periphery,” Abby Winbury (Dakota Fanning), Benji’s sister, tells Amelia. “Where it’s safe.”

But, before the pair’s nuptials, a body turns up on the beach. Having apparently accidentally drowned, the investigation of the person’s death starts to look like one plucked straight from the pages of one of Greer’s novels.

“The White Lotus” star Meghann Fahy, Ishaan Khattar, Jack Reynor, Sam Nivola, Mia Isaac, Donna Lynne Champlin and Isabelle Adjani round out the cast for the mystery series.

“Bird Box” director Susanne Bier serves as director and executive producer on the six-episode season. Showrunner Jenna Lamia executive produces along with Hilderbrand, Shawn Levy and Josh Barry for 21 Laps Entertainment, Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady for The Jackal Group and Nicole Kidman and Per Saari for Blossom Films.

The show hits the streamer Sept. 5. Watch the trailer below.
