Perrie Edwards has explained why she's not in a hurry to marry Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Despite getting engaged two years ago, the couple still haven't set a wedding date.

Speaking on Australian radio, the 31-year-old shared: “I feel like we’ve already planned it. In our minds we know and we talk about it a lot – Alex more so than me actually which is really cute because he wants it to pop off.

“He wants a party, a performer, he wants it to be a big thing. I’m like, I know who I want as bridesmaids and this and that.

“It’s all kind of set in stone but we haven’t actually planned it yet.”

The couple welcomed their son Axel in August 2021 and the singer shared that she wants to wait until he is older so he can have a significant role in their wedding.

She shared: “There’s a lot going on in my life right now, I’ve got so much. We’ve said about waiting for Axel to be older and then he can be a pageboy or whatever. It makes more sense.”

Last month, Edwards hinted she's written a track about her former bandmate Jesy Nelson for her debut solo album.

The singer revealed the song reflects “a friendship that I no longer have” and said it brings her to tears whenever she listens to it.

Edwards and Nelson, 33, rose to fame in Little Mix from The X Factor in 2011, alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall.

After Nelson left the band in 2020 citing mental health reasons, she hasn't kept in touch with her former bandmates.

The Forget About Us hitmaker discussed her solo career on The Zach Sang Show, sharing that the track is about someone who was once a significant part of her life but with whom she no longer sees eye-to-eye.

While she didn't explicitly name Nelson, she described them as someone who was a “big part of my life”, adding: “There’s a friendship that I no longer have. I wrote a song about that. That song – I can’t even listen to it without crying.”

She continued: “It is about them and how we didn’t see eye-to-eye. It’s a really sad song. We don’t talk any more.

“They were a big part of my life so it’s sad how it all ended up.”

Last month, the British singer released her second single, Tears, following her debut solo track, Forget About Us, which topped the Big Top 40 chart for two weeks and reached the top 10 on the Official Charts.

While Forget About Us is an Ed Sheeran-written pop ballad with a country influence, Tears featured a smooth soul sound with an '80s vibe.
