PHOTOS: Netherlands, Senegal, US, England book place in knockouts

The Netherlands, Senegal, United States and England are all through to the last 16 with victories in their final group matches, joining early qualifiers France, Brazil and Portugal.

Yahoo News Singapore highlights some of the action from these matches in photos.

Netherlands 1 - 0 Qatar

The Netherlands beat Qatar 2-0 to top Group A and advance into the last 16. Goals from Cody Gakpo and Frenkie de Jong condemned Qatar to the worst performance of a World Cup host who lost all of its three group matches.

Gakpo is just the second Dutch player to score with his left foot, his right foot and his head in a single edition of the World Cup, after Wesley Sneijder in 2010. He also joined a select company of Dutch players to score in three straight World Cup matches.

The Group A leaders will face Group B runner up US in the last 16.

Iran 0 - 1 USA

One goal was all that was needed for the United States to book a place in the last 16.

Christian Pulisic bundled the winner that eliminated Iran from the tournament. He then stayed down after sustaining a worrying injury.

The win ensured a second place finish for the Americans in Group B and a match against Group A winners the Netherlands next.
