PKNS Sells 70% Of Datum Jelatek’s Residential Component
The RM1.2 billion project is owned and developed by DatumCorp International Sdn Bhd, a fully-owned unit of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS).

Datum Jelatek, a transit-oriented integrated development project linked to the Jelatek light rail transit (LRT), sold 70 percent of its residential component, reported The New Straits Times.

The RM1.2 billion project is owned and developed by DatumCorp International Sdn Bhd, a fully-owned unit of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS).

Nestled on a 5.65-acre land, the development comprises 712 residential units spread across four towers as well as a four-storey mall.

“Today we witness the sales and purchase agreement (SPA) signing of 379 units in Tower B and Tower C of the residential component, by Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Bhd (Angkasa). The units will be placed under a rent-to-own (RTO) scheme,” stated Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

“With the en bloc purchase, Datum Jelatek residential component is now 70 percent sold.”

Open to government servants who failed to secure home financing, the RTO scheme will be handled by MyAngkasa Az Zahra Sdn Bhd, which is a subsidiary of Angkasa.

MyAngkasa Az Zahra Group CEO Mohamad Shaharul revealed that the final criteria for eligibility in the scheme is still being finalised.

He noted, however, that salary would be the main criteria as it is the only gauge for the government servant’s repayment ability.

“Once that is done, the government servant can then rent the unit for a period of between five to 10 years before purchasing the units from us,” he added.

Meanwhile, DatumCorp CEO Shytul Shahryn Mohamad Shaari hopes to complete and deliver the residential component alongside with the Datum Mall.

“The Datum Mall will be completed within the first quarter of 2020 and we are hoping that we can speed up the residential component, which is slated for a June 2020 completion, so we can launch both components together,” he said.

“The Datum Mall has already achieved 60 percent occupancy with the signing of 40 new tenants, and we are hoping to get 86.4 percent occupancy by year-end.”

Datum Jelatek features a circular sky bridge at level 27 that connects all four residential blocks – making it Malaysia’s first sky ring bridge.
