Point Grey Pictures Inks First-Look Production Agreement With Universal

Universal has entered into a first-look film partnership with Point Grey Pictures, the production company of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver. The deal comes following the companies’ past work together on breakout comedy hits including the Neighbors franchise, Good Boys and Blockers.

In a statement on the pact Donna Langley, NBCUniversal Studio Group’s Chairman and Chief Content Officer, observed that “Seth, Evan and James have developed a filmmaking brand entirely their own. Whether we’re watching their stories of teenage turtles, anthropomorphic groceries, or foul mouthed sixth graders making epically bad decisions, they always manage to blend Point Grey’s signature edgy humor with humanity and heart.”

“Becoming newly anointed knights in the kingdom of Dame Donna Langley is an honour and privilege we do not take lightly,” added Rogen, Goldberg and Weaver. “We pledge to win grand box office battles alongside Peter Cramer, Erik Baiers and the rest of our partners at Universal, and shall duly make the Universal coffers overfloweth.”

Founded by lifelong friends Rogen and Goldberg in 2011, Point Grey has been behind some of the most fresh and fun films and TV series of the last decade, including Prime Video’s smash hit The Boys, a dark superhero satire heading into its fourth season this year, which launched university-set spin-off The Boys: Gen V last fall and has another, The Boys: Mexico, in the works. Coming off huge success jumpstarting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise with new animated installment Mutant Mayhem, which grossed over $181M globally last summer, the company is currently poised to reteam with Paramount on Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a 2D animated show greenlighted for Paramount+.

Also recently producing the acclaimed Lionsgate pic Joyride, which notched the Comedy Ensemble of the Year Award at CinemaCon 2023, Point Grey’s other upcoming projects include Amazon’s animated series Sausage Party: Foodtopia, based on its hit R-rated comedy from 2016, and an untitled half-hour comedy series for Apple TV+, which is currently in development.

UTA and law firm Felker Toczek negotiated the deal on behalf of Point Grey Pictures.
