Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are getting a major update later this month, with patch notes detailing many of the bug fixes that Game Freak will release.

The latest games in the series released in November to widespread criticism for its many bugs, glitches and performance issues. It received a day-one patch and a small one in December, but fans are waiting with baited breath for a major update to get the game in shape.

This patch may or may not be it, however.

A support page on Nintendo's website details plenty of bug fixes, a lot of them to do with the new Terastallizing mechanic, character expressions being stuck, issues with traded Pokémon, and reducing the chances of the game crashing by potentially reducing the amount of Pokémon and people displayed in certain areas.

Passers-by will also not be displayed during battle in towns anymore, meaning they won't walk through your Pokémon and their attacks. Meanwhile, further functionality will be added to the Pokémon Box system to allow for better organisation.

The patch notes states that further updates and fixes will be coming with the update, but don't state what they are yet, so we'll have to wait and see if the poor framerate, texture issues etc, will be dealt with.

Despite Scarlet and Violet's many issues, the games have sold incredibly well. Between them, there were 10 million units (physical and digital) sold in just three days, and the games set a record for the highest number of software sold on a Nintendo system within that period, while also being the UK's biggest physical launch of 2022.
