Police Say High School UCLA Recruits Are Suspects in Colorado Football Locker Room Robbery
The suspects are students at a high school in Riverside County, according to the Pasadena Police Department

Authorities in California say they believe a group of high school recruits is responsible for the alleged theft of jewelry and other items from the University of Colorado’s locker room during a game against UCLA at the Rose Bowl last month.
Pasadena officials identified the suspects as prospective UCLA recruits who attend Beaumont High School in Riverside County, USA Today reported.
The case has been referred to the juvenile division of the district attorney’s office, a Pasadena city spokeswoman told the outlet.
A spokesman with the Pasadena Police Department did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for additional comment.
Earlier this month, Colorado coach Deion Sanders called upon the NCAA and the Rose Bowl to investigate the matter after the alleged locker room theft.
UCLA confirmed to PEOPLE at the time that the school's athletic department filed a report with the Pasadena Police Department regarding an alleged robbery of unspecified items during the game between Buffaloes and Bruins.
Sanders, 56, addressed the alleged incident in his post-game press conference after UCLA defeated the Colorado Buffaloes 28-16, claiming, "Our kids got robbed during the game last week. I think that's a travesty."

The Buffaloes head coach continued, "I would expect the NCAA to do something about that. This is the Rose Bowl."

According to The Denver Post and FanNation, at least five Colorado players — including Derrick McLendon, Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig and Jordan Domineck — alleged that jewelry, Beats headphones and thousands of dollars in cash were stolen.

On Monday, the Beaumont Unified School District released a statement regarding the high school players' suspected involvement with the crime, USA Today reported.
“We are disappointed and disheartened to hear of the alleged involvement of Beaumont High School students in the incident at the UCLA-Colorado football game on October 28,” the statement provided to USA Today read. “We strive to promote strong character and integrity in our students, and the alleged actions do not represent our core values as a school, District, and community. While the students were not at the UCLA-Colorado football game as part of a school-sponsored event, the District is cooperating fully with Pasadena Police Department's investigation.”
