SINGAPORE — The Singapore Police Force is investigating the death of a 36-year-old police officer, who was found unconscious at the foot of Block 393 Yishun Avenue 6 and subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Friday (21 July) at approximately 4.55 pm.

In a Facebook post on Friday, the police said the officer had been identified, and the authorities do not suspect any foul play in the incident.

Prior to his death, the officer had made allegations about work through a post on his personal Facebook account, which has since been made unavailable to the public.

The police said they were aware of these concerns, and had already provided various assistance to him.

"We will be looking thoroughly and will investigate all the issues he has raised in his post. We are all deeply saddened by the passing of a colleague. We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the officer and are assisting the family in their time of grief," the police said.

In a separate Facebook post on the same day, Law and Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam identified the police officer as Uvaraja S/O Gopal, and said that he "died under tragic circumstances".

The minister said, "He has put up a post, which amongst other things, says he faced racial discrimination in SPF. These and other allegations are serious. I have asked SPF to investigate the matter thoroughly.

"We will get to the bottom of it. And be accountable. We have a clear policy of non-discrimination. All officers are entitled to be treated fairly. SPF as an organisation is committed to that principle. We will investigate the facts. My deepest condolences to the family," he added.
