York police are looking for witnesses after six puppies were found abandoned by a road in the Township of King earlier this week.

Police were called to the area of Weston Road and 15th Sideroad around 2:30 p.m on Tuesday after a passerby found the puppies in a wire cage at the side of the road, police said in a news release Wednesday.

The puppies are described as "being similar to a Husky breed," police said. They did not appear to be in distress and had no visible injuries.

"The puppies were taken into the care of Animal Services where they will be receiving the necessary care and attention," the news release said, adding that they are not ready for adoption yet.

Anyone with information is asked to contact York Regional Police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
