Poll: British females endure 26 years of 'bad hair days' in lifetime

Twitter users discuss the most annoying things in life

A recent survey revealed the average British female will spend the equivalent of 26 years of her life experiencing the dreaded bad hair day.

This phrase, which is thought to have emerged in the US back in the 1980s, is expected to be uttered at least three days a week by the average UK female -- with a poll of 2,000 females revealing women will suffer some 9,828 "bad hair days" during a lifetime (based on the average woman's lifetime of 63 years).

The findings, reported by Mail Online March 7, also revealed 12% of women have canceled a date because of their hair, and more than one in 20 have even called in sick from work due to unruly tresses.

While recent hair trends include actress Rooney Mara's bold fringe, model Alice Dellal's undercut and Glee star Dianna Agron's choppy short style, these looks don't suit every hair type -- curly hair + bangs is always a recipe for disaster.

According to the report, 13% of females try to hide their unruly locks by wearing a hat, while 8% apply an abundance of cosmetics to compensate. But if this doesn't appeal, help is at hand in the form of a YouTube tutorial. Here are a few of the site's best tutorials on surviving a BHD.
