Power Rangers stars from across the series have paid tribute to Jason David Frank after his death at the age of 49.

The actor first played Tommy Oliver in Mighty Morphin in 1993 and reprised the role in over half a dozen iterations of the franchise, wearing the mantle of Green Ranger, White Ranger, Red Zeo Ranger, Red Turbo Ranger and Black Dino Ranger at various points.

Outside of Power Rangers, he was an MMA fighter who created his own blend of karate.

"He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will truly be missed."

Tributes were led by cast members from Mighty Morphin, Zeo and Turbo, where Frank was a full-time cast member.

"Jase, you were beautiful and truly unique. My life just won’t be the same without your frenetic, hilarious, caring, driven and creative ball of energy. I will always love you, dear friend. Please Rest now In Peace…" wrote original Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson.

"Can’t believe it…. RIP Jason David Frank," shared Walter Jones, the first Black Ranger. "My heart is sad to have lost another member of our special family."

"'Once a ranger, always a ranger' thoughts and prayers…," said original Red Ranger Austin St John, while Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy – aka Bulk and Skull – wrote "Rest In Peace, my friend" and "No words. Just love" respectively.

"My complicated friend. You had my heart on day one. So intelligent, so funny, so energetic. A light so bright, a force like no other. You shaped & transformed so many lives," shared original Blue Ranger David Yost. "I know you can now see the truth of the glory that is you. Thank you, thank you, thank you."

The second Yellow Ranger, Karan Ashley, posted: "Jay you finally got me to shut up. Can you imagine me, of all people, at a loss for words. LOL... I know it's unheard of. Calm down and Wipe that mischievous smirk off your face. It won't last long.

"All I can muster up is I love you. That just doesn't seem to be a big enough phrase. I promise when I get my act together, I will have a long and mushy speech that's all about you. You'll love it! Until then, I love you, I'm so very sad and I'm anxiously awaiting the day we meet again."

Nakia Burrise, who was the Yellow Ranger after Ashley, added: "I have really struggled with finding the right words to say… In every family there is chaos, miscommunication, support, but most of all love.

"I have been blessed to be apart of the Power Ranger family for 27years and losing a family member is difficult… May the Lord wrap his arms around JDF’s wife and kids during this time. JDF, you will be missed!"

Blake Foster, who played the Blue Turbo Ranger in Frank's final episodes as a main cast member, posted: "Can’t believe this… Cried all night. Heartbroken yet again. Lost my hero, our leader, my friend and an icon. Life really sucks man."

Further tribute posts came from Selwyn Ward (Turbo Red Ranger, In Space Blue Ranger), Christopher Khayman Lee (In Space Red Ranger), Brennan Mejia (Dino Charge Red Ranger) and Jason Faunt (Time Force Red Ranger) among others, as well as the official Power Rangers account.

Catherine Sutherland (Zeo and Turbo Pink Ranger) and Erin Cahill (Time Force Pink Ranger) also shared tributes via Instagram Stories.
