Tottenham missed out on the chance to move back into the top four after a defeat to West Ham.

James Ward-Prowse scored the winner as the Hammers turned the game around, while Everton shocked Newcastle in a 3-0 win.

On Wednesday, Manchester United recorded a much-needed win over Chelsea while Aston Villa beat Manchester City to go above them in the Premier League table.

Scott McTominay scored in either half to cancel out Cole Palmer's equaliser at Old Trafford for a deserved victory for the hosts over a miserable Chelsea performance. Leon Bailey scored the only goal, via a deflection, as Villa won 1-0 over the champions, who again were missing Rodri and have now not won in four games.

At Bramall Lane, Liverpool beat Sheffield United to keep pace with Arsenal and remain in second place. Fulham put five past Nottingham Forest to leave Steve Cooper clinging onto his job while Roy Hodgson also faces an uncertain future after Crystal Palace were beaten 2-0 at home by Bournemouth.

On Tuesday, Arsenal consolidated their lead at the top of the Premier League table after edging past Luton with a 4-3 victory.
