Pride Park pothole problems to be tackled

Road repairs outside Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium are due to continue into next week.

Roadworks on Royal Way will run until Tuesday 18 June with the road closed while resurfacing takes place.

The work follows complaints over the state of the road surface, including a number of large potholes.

In March, Derby County Community Trust had to issue a warning to Derby 10k road race participants over the uneven surface - with some runners later saying they had to walk along parts of Royal Way.

And Derby County fans also raised concerns over the stretch with Derby city councillor Sarah Chambers earlier this year.

She told the Local Democracy Reporting Service in March: “It’s probably one of the worst roads I have to drive over. You kind of have to swerve around.”

Work is now under way, with Derby City Council saying the delay in acting was due to warmer weather being required due to the materials being used.
