On their second to last day as working royals, just before their official April 1 transition date, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced some imminent changes to the Duke and Duchess's digital communications.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer use the name Sussex Royal for their charitable organization, Instagram or website," the spokesperson said. There would be one final post on the couple's @Sussexroyal handle, after which, it'd transition into something of an archive.

"Following today’s post, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer post on Instagram under the @sussexroyal handle and will also no longer update SussexRoyal.com website," the spokesperson explained. "Both the Instagram account and website will remain in existence online for the foreseeable future, although they will be inactive."

But Harry and Meghan took an additional step that wasn't previously announced: they've turned off the comments on the account, which both hides any old comments from view, and prevents users from adding new ones. It's not clear why they've done this, but it's also not all that surprising, as @Sussexroyal has effectively ceased being an active account.

In their last post, though, the Duke and Duchess did make a point to thank fans who'd engaged with them on Instagram. In their comment, they wrote, "Thank you to this community - for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great!"
