After spending the night in the ICU due to "worsened" symptoms from the novel coronavirus, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is now in stable condition.

"The prime minister has been stable overnight and remains in good spirits. He is receiving standard oxygen treatment and is breathing without any other assistance," reads a statement from Downing Street released this morning.

"He has not required mechanical ventilation or non-invasive respiratory support."

As he continues to recover from COVID-19, the royal family is sending warm wishes to the PM. This morning, for example, Prince William personally shared a message on social media from his family.

The tweet reads:

Our thoughts are with the Prime Minister and his family, who like so many in the UK and around the world are affected by coronavirus. We wish him a speedy recovery at this difficult time.

It was signed simply "W."

William's tweet follows news that Queen Elizabeth has also sent her best wishes to Johnson's fiancée Carrie Symonds and the Johnson family. "Earlier today The Queen sent a message to Carrie Symonds and to the Johnson family. Her Majesty said they were in her thoughts and that she wished the Prime Minister a full and speedy recovery," reads a statement from Buckingham Palace.

It is understood that Prince Charles also sent his and Camilla’s wishes for a speedy recovery to the Prime Minister this morning.

As Johnson is currently still recovering, his weekly audience with the Queen will not take place as planned, though the British monarch will be kept informed of his condition.
