Prince William Reveals Prince George Is a "Potential Pilot in the Making"

Prince George is only 10 years old, but his dad Prince William is already thinking about his future career (and no, not the one that sees him become King).

At a Buckingham Palace Garden Party the Prince of Wales hosted on behalf of King Charles yesterday, he chatted with guest Chrissie Lacey, a Squadron Leader serving at RAF Coningsby. William told Lacey that Prince George would love to visit the Royal Air Force base because George is a "potential pilot in the making." It seems the young prince and eventual heir to the throne hopes to follow in his father's footsteps in more ways than one; during his military service, Prince William was a search and rescue pilot in the Royal Air Force.

This isn't the first time the Waleses have shared that George has a fasciation with planes and pilots. In 2016, when George was just a toddler, Kate attended a service to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the RAF's Air Training Corps. There, she revealed to a cadet that George is "obsessed" with the air cadets and wants to join. And, back in 2021, when Kate, then the Duchess of Cambridge, visited RAF base Brize Norton, she shared that her children are very interested in aircraft.

Last summer, William and Kate brought their three kids to the Royal International Air Tattoo, a military air show at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England. During that visit, George tried out the controls on a C17 plane:

If he does, in fact, want to become a pilot, Prince George has some time to go; he's just 10 years old, and has many years in school ahead of him. He's currently a student at Lambrook School in Berkshire, and in the fall of 2025, he could follow in his dad's footsteps and go to Eton College, or follow in his mom's and attend Marlborough College. Last year, George was spotted touring Eton College with his parents.
