Princess Anne has been discharged from the hospital, Buckingham Palace shared today. She has returned to her home Gatcombe Park,

The Princess Royal spent five days in Southmead Hospital after emergency services were called to her home on the evening of June 23. She sustained a concussion and minor injuries. Though the exact cause of her injury has not been shared, it is understood that the injuries were consistent with a hard impact from a horse.

"I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all the team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise and kindness during my wife’s short stay," Anne's husband, Sir Tim Laurence, said in a statement.

Princess Anne will now rest and recuperate at her home, and only return to public duties when her medical team recommends it is safe to do so. As recovery from a concussion can vary from patient to patient, there is no set timeline on when Princess Anne will be back at work.

At the time of her hospitalization, Buckingham Palace said, "Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery. The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery."

When Laurence visited his wife in the hospital this week, he shared, "We are both profoundly grateful to the medical team and hospital support staff for their expert care—and to the emergency services who were all so wonderful at the scene. We are both deeply touched by all the kind messages we have received from so many people near and far. It means a great deal."
