The Princess of Wales delivered a speech to a group of young people on Tuesday (10 October), for World Mental Health Day.

The Princess spoke to the individuals during a day of workshops in Birmingham, to mark the global awareness day.

For the visit, Kate wore a pair of gold star-shaped earrings which held poignant significance. The earrings were given to the Princess by Sarah Renton, whose daughter, Issy Phipps, sadly took her own life. The jewellery was created in memory of Issy, and was gifted to Kate earlier this year when she visited Maidenhead Rugby Club, where Sarah is a coach (according to the BBC).

In a post on the official Instagram account Kate shares with her husband, Prince William, Kate said World Mental Health Day was, "a reminder to prioritise our mental wellbeing."

Explaining the workshops she was attending in Birmingham, Kate said that, "the young people here today have been nominated by ten leading mental health and youth charities to talk about specific challenges and the solutions their generation needs."

The Princess of Wales added that it was "always so insightful listening to young people share their experiences."

Photographs of the Prince and Princess of Wales' visit were also included in the post. In the images the couple can be seen chatting with young people at the event, while Kate is also shown delivering her speech at a podium.
