A prolific burglar who targeted homes across London, Cambridgeshire and Cheshire was caught by police while he was having a haircut in a barbers.

Larry Connors, 30, has been jailed for more than four years after carrying out a string of burglaries across England.

Cambridge Crown Court heard how Conners, of Derby, first broke into a house in Upton, Chester, on February 2, 2021 and stole cash and jewellery.

His DNA was found on a window handle.

Then on February 26, 2021, he struck a house in Bentley Road, Cambridge. Nothing was stolen but his DNA was again found on a window handle.

Nine months later he struck again in Sidcup’s Harecourt Avenue, but did not manage to steal anything.

He once again left his DNA on a glove mark on a window frame.

Finally he raided a home in Shadwell Drive in Northolt on September 10 2022, stealing cash and jewellery to a value of £17,000.

The court heard how he was eventually arrested in June last year while having his hair cut at a barber’s shop in Radcliffe on Trent, Nottinghamshire.

The 30-year-old was also wanted on recall to prison after breaching a home detention curfew on a three-year sentence in relation to a large-scale conspiracy to commit burglaries across Britain.

He was jailed for four years and six months, having been found guilty of four counts of burglary.

DC Sarah Longbottom, of Cambridgeshire Constabulary, said: “Connors is a prolific burglar who has caused pain and misery for victims, not only in Cambridgeshire, but across the country.

“Burglary is a force priority, and we do everything we can to get the likes of Connors before the courts.

“I’m glad he is now behind bars because he has violated people’s privacy and their homes.”
