PUBG Mobile has announced a partnership with popular Japanese anime series Dragon Ball Super, which will bring Dragon Ball Super modes, items, vehicles, and other content to the game as part of a huge gameplay overhaul in version 2.7.

PUBG Mobile players will be able to take to the battlefield as their favourite characters from the series, including Son Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Pilaf, Karin, and more.

The PUBG Mobile-Dragon Ball Super collaboration will also see two new ground-breaking Dragon Ball Super-themed game modes taking the spotlight.

The first will take place in-game from 13 July to 4 September, featuring elements from the anime being merged with classic PUBG Mobile's battle royale gameplay.

In this mode, players can collect seven of the anime's titular Dragon Balls in order to summon the mighty dragon Shenron then make a wish at the Shenron Summoning Altar for powerful buffs.

Players can also find four areas in PUBG Mobile maps Erangel, Livik, and Sanhok that have been changed to replicate locations from the anime, including 'Dragon Ball Village', 'Tenkaichi Budokai', 'Kame House', and 'Karin Tower'.

In addition, players can traverse these areas by using the new 'Hoipoi Capsule', which transforms into the three-seater 'Air Car' seen in Dragon Ball Super.

There will also be a new 'Ki' mechanic added to the game as part of the collaboration. Ki, an energy used by Dragon Ball characters to enhance their fighting skills and use powerful abilities, can be gathered by players to receive enhanced mobility, fly across the battlefield, and even use Goku's iconic 'Kamehameha' attack.

In true Dragon Ball fashion, players can also eat scattered 'Senzu Beans' in order to regenerate Ki and health.

The second Dragon Ball Super-themed game mode coming to PUBG Mobile will be playable from 15 July to 4 September. This mode will transform the game's battlegrounds into the world of Dragon Ball Super, complete with the anime's art style.

Not only that, players can also take the battlefield as one of five Dragon Ball Super characters — Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Piccolo, and Ultimate Gohan.

And instead of using the usual weaponry of PUBG Mobile, players will instead fight using the lightning-fast martial arts and powerful superhuman attacks seen in the anime.

Players will need to gather Spirit Crystlets and Spirit Crystals from the ground to restore energy and upgrade their moves, as well as use a variety of new features such as Teleport Points and Updraft to traverse and manipulate the map.

In addition, there will be a hidden Dragon Ball Trial added, where players will search for the seven Dragon Balls while their location is visible to other players. They will need to successfully secure the Dragon Balls, defend the Shenron Summoning Altar, and then make a wish in order to achieve victory.

Finally, PUBG Mobile also teased even more content coming as part of the collaboration on 11 August.

Aside from the new Dragon Ball Super partnership, PUBG Mobile's version 2.7 update also debuts a host of gameplay enhancements, including improvements to the World of Wonder creative mode and the new assault rifle ACE32, which will be available on all maps.

Additionally, Cycle 5 Season 13 has been updated with new content, rewards and cosmetics to unlock and enjoy, and the latest Royale Pass Ace will bring new core rewards along with Season Missions.
