Punjab CM demands special team to probe anti-Sikh riots case

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday to place his demand for the formation of a special investigation team to probe the 1984 Sikh riots case. After the meeting the Prime Minister at the parliament in New Delhi, Badal said that he had asked for this team to be formed under the supervision of the country's Supreme Court to push forward many cases, which are yet to be investigated. A Delhi court on April 30 acquitted Congress leader Sajjan Kumar and convicted five other accused of charges including rioting and murder.
