Queen Camilla Repurposes a Favorite Fiona Clare Dress for a Royal Engagement With King Charles

Queen Camilla joined King Charles III on Wednesday for a visit to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London to celebrate the school’s 120th anniversary. The queen consort fashioned a look she’s worn not just once before, but twice.

For the daytime event, Queen Camilla wore a blue dress with black-and-white patterning courtesy of Fiona Clare. The midi dress featured long sleeves and a modern design with a classic silhouette. The queen consort accessorized her look with a pair of statement gold earrings, layered bracelets and a necklace. She completed the look with coordinated heels and a bag.

Queen Camilla has a proclivity for repurposing selections from her royal wardrobe. She’s reworn looks by Fiona Clare and Anna Valentine — her go-to designers — in the past.

Prior to this recent royal engagement, Queen Camilla wore the exact same dress for an event she hosted at Buckingham Palace. The British royal family member hosted the 90th anniversary commemoration of Brooke on May 9. The international animal welfare organization focuses on the improvement of the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules.

Much like her recent royal outing, Queen Camilla made the dress the centerpiece of her ensemble, choosing instead to accessorize with subtle pieces of jewelry and neutral-toned shoes.

The royal also wore the dress a previous time in July 2022. The then-Duchess of Cornwall joined then-Prince Charles for a visit to BBC Wales’ new headquarters in Cardiff for their royal outing. Once again, Queen Camilla kept her accessories simple, letting the ornately designed dress be the focus of her look.

Queen Camilla’s style throughout King Charles III’s reign highlights a sensible approach to fashion without sacrificing a bit of playfulness. The queen consort tends to gravitate towards silhouettes that are relatively similar. But she makes the pieces her own by opting for vibrant hues, patterns and sentimental details.
