Quincy Jones, Richard Curtis and Longtime James Bond Producers to Be Honored at 15th Governors Awards
The Governors Awards give honorary Oscar statuettes, honoring “exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences”

To be presented with Oscar statuettes at the upcoming 15th Governors Awards are composer Quincy Jones, filmmaker Richard Curtis, casting director Juliet Taylor and longtime James Bond film producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Wednesday, June 12 announcement revealed that the event, honoring “extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement” and “exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences of any discipline,” will be held Nov. 17 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood.

“The recipients of this year’s Governors Awards have set the bar incredibly high across their remarkable careers, and the Academy’s Board of Governors is thrilled to recognize them with Oscars,” said Academy President Janet Yang in a statement.

An Oscar statue at the 96th Academy Awards March 10Honorary awardee Jones, 91, is being recognized for his “artistic genius and relentless creativity,” continued Yang, calling the producer and musician “one of the most influential musical figures of all time.” Jones has seven competitive Oscar nominations to his name, from 1967's In Cold Blood to 1985's The Color Purple, and in 1993 received the Academy's honorary Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
Receiving that accolade this year is Curtis, 67, who Yang dubbed “a brilliant comedic storyteller whose tremendous charitable efforts embody the meaning of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.” The British filmmaker, known for writing 1994’s Oscar-nominated Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually and more, is also the co-founder of Comic Relief UK and USA.
Wilson and Broccoli of EON Productions, receiving the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, have produced James Bond films for decades. Wilson, 82, began with 1979's Roger Moore-starring Moonraker, while Broccoli, 63, first produced 1987's Timothy Dalton-starring The Living Daylights.
“Juliet Taylor has cast iconic and beloved films and paved a new path for the field,” concluded the statement from Yang, 67. The five artists’ “profound love of cinema and indelible contribution to our art form make these five individuals truly deserving of these honors.”

Last year’s Governors Awards gave honorary Oscars to industry legends Angela Bassett, Mel Brooks, Carol Littleton and Michelle Satter.
The 97th annual Academy Awards will be held on March 2, 2025.
