Quinta Brunson's Mom 'Freaked Out' and Dropped Her Phone After Meeting “Young Sheldon”'s Iain Armitage Over FaceTime

"She was, like, tearing up and crying. It was so sweet," said Brunson about her mom's conversation with the actor

Quinta Brunson made one of her mom's biggest dreams come true with the help of Iain Armitage.

During an appearance on the May 15 episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, the actress, 34, revealed how she got the Young Sheldon star, 15, to FaceTime her mom recently.

"I have introduced my mom to mad people, you guys. Including Patti LaBelle last week, which is really, really cool," the Abbott Elementary star and creator explained. "She was so sweet, and it was incredible. But you know who my mom freaked out over? Like, dropped her phone? Young Sheldon."

After the audience roared with laughter, host Seth Meyers asked Brunson, "Really? The kid?" causing Brunson to detail how the moment came to be.

"I was with him at a WB mixer, and he's such a sweetie pie, by the way. Iain is incredible, very talented, very sweet. And, you know, my mom, she loves the show. I know she loves it," said Brunson. "We took a picture, I said, 'You mind if I FaceTime my mom? This would make her day.'"

The Emmy winner quipped that she "didn't know that it would make her day so hard that she would have to get a new phone."

"She was, like, tearing up and crying. It was so sweet," continued Brunson. "I mean, I've never seen her react that way for anyone."

According to Brunson, her mom was so starstruck that she didn't want the conversation with the young actor to end.

"She lost it over him," said Brunson. "He's such a sweetie pie. And then, when I took the phone back, she said, 'Put Sheldon back on.' And I was like, 'Um, okay.' So I did. She freaked out over him."

It's no surprise that the television star wanted to make the moment a reality for her mother. In February, she told PEOPLE that her mom's kindness has always inspired her.

“I remember one time a kid being in the house, and I was like, ‘Why is this kid here?’ And my mom could not put her teacher heart aside to not give someone a home for a night that needed a home," said Brunson.

"She wasn't supposed to, but it's not something she could really turn a blind eye to,” she added.
