Race Across the World contestants have shared the must-have item that they wished they had taken on their epic journey. Some have even warned Race Across the World was much "tougher" than they ever imagined. But the one thing all the contestants say is they have had the experience of a lifetime.
Applications are now open for the next season of Race Across the World. It is not long before the application process closes shortly on 12 May. You won't be able to go it alone so you must be able to persuade the person you would love to spend eight weeks travelling with to come along for the ride.
The BBC has shared exactly what they want to know about you while applying to be a contestant on the adventurous show. It doesn't matter how much or how little travelling you have done already.
The broadcaster set out on their website: "This experience is open to all, whether you’re a seasoned traveller or total novice. We want to hear what undertaking a trip like this would mean to you, and with a cash prize at stake, what lengths you would go to to win. Maybe you’re looking to change something in your life?
"Or are keen to share the journey with someone special like a family member, best friend, or someone you’ve lost touch with. You may even have a very personal reason for wanting to travel at this time in your life or explore a particular part of the world."
Race Across the World prize fund
Take a look at previous Race Across the World winners and where they are now. The winning team are the pair who reach the final checkpoint destination first. Sometimes it is incredibly tight between the teams taking part. In season two, Emon and Jamiul Choudhury won by just 20 seconds.
The winners will bank the cash prize of £20,000 between them. They will be able to spend the money however they like or choose to save it. Some past winners have donated some of their winnings to charity.
When is Race Across the World 2025 filmed?
The incredible journey is filmed over an eight week period. While not all pairings make the finish line, TV bosses ask for applicants who are available for the whole eight weeks.
Race Across the World bosses are planning to film the next series from October until December later this year. The dates are not set in stone and they may change later on. This will then air on the small screen in 2025.
Race Across the World requirements
Both members of the team must be over 18 years old at the time when the final application is submitted and be legally a resident of the UK.
Race Across the World hopefuls will need a valid passport that allows them to travel to all the locations required by TV bosses. It must be valid at least until July 2025.
