Rachel Brosnahan and “Maisel” Cast 'Could Barely Look at Each Other' by Show's End — but Now Keep Bond Going Via Gifs

"We're in each other's lives. We're lifers no matter what the show is," Caroline Aaron gushed to PEOPLE on the 2023 Emmy Awards red carpet

Rachel Brosnahan is opening up about filming the final scene of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and how it hit home for the entire cast.

On the 2023 Emmy Awards red carpet, Brosnahan, 33, shared that filming the final episode of the Amazon Prime Video series felt "really cathartic."

"We shot it last," she told E! News of her character Miriam Maisel's emotional appearance on the show's fictional talk show. "It was the last week of shooting the entire cast was there we got to really close this incredible chapter all together as a team and as a family."

She continued, "I mean we couldn’t even look at each other. Michael [Zegen] and I couldn’t look at each other, Alex [Borstein] and I couldn’t look at each other, we were all just kind of like on the verge of tears, but it made for a really powerful moment for the ending of the show."

While speaking to PEOPLE, the rest of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel cast opens up about celebrating the final season of the Amazon series at the 2023 Emmys.

Michael Zegen says that the cast never feels like "we're that far away from each other."

"I mean, like we keep in touch... I mean, it's always it's always great to see one another," he says, before patting Gideon Glick as he reminded Zegen that the two hung out "two nights ago."

Caroline Aaron adds, "We're in each other's lives. We're lifers no matter what the show is."

When asked if they group keep in touch with a group chat, the cast reveals the message thread is "active as hell." They also share that Borstein and Kevin Pollak as the two who send the most "GIFs."

On a sartorial note, Zegen also confesses he "took a lot of clothes" on the last day of set as Alfie Fuller.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel concluded with its fifth and final season in May 2023.

As part of her closure for wrapping Mrs. Maisel, Brosnahan shared one last shot on Nov. 5 from her final day on set and penned a short thank you on Instagram to the cast and crew of the hit Prime Video show.

"That's a series wrap on The Marvelous Mrs Maisel," the actress wrote, her back turned to the camera in a doorway, appearing to be physically leaving the set. "This thing was lightning in a bottle. A cast, a crew and creators who got to time travel for 5 years together. It changed my life. I'm eternally grateful. I'll have more words later, but for now … "

"Thank you and goodnight," she signed off, quoting her character's signature end-of-set line.
