Raven-Symoné is remembering her late brother Blaize Pearman.

As the Raven’s Home actress acknowledged her 38th birthday in December, she announced that her younger brother died at age 31 last month.

"Thank you the all the love yesterday. It was felt beyond. Hard to fully celebrate knowing that I'm here and he is not,” she wrote on social media.

In the video message shared to followers on her Instagram feed, she added, "It was a little bittersweet for me to be honest, because last month I lost my brother, Blaize," the Raven's Home star revealed. "He was battling colon cancer for about two years and he is in a better place now. He's loved and missed and the emotions that have been weaving in and out — of my body and mind and my family — have been a roller coaster."

Though Blaize did not have a public-facing job like his big sister, he often walked red carpets with her and shared a look into their relationship on Instagram.

Here’s everything to know about the actress’ late brother.

He was six years younger than Raven-Symoné

Raven-Symoné and her brother Blaize were almost exactly six years apart in age. In fact, they were both Sagittariuses: the That’s So Raven actress was born on Dec. 10 and Blaize was born on Dec. 16.

Raven-Symoné is the only daughter of her parents Lydia Gaulden and Christopher B. Pearman, and Blaize was their only son. Raven-Symoné has spoken highly of her parents, crediting them for keeping her grounded amid her rise to stardom at a young age.

“My parents taught me to keep my private life private to the best of my ability,” she told Oprah Winfrey in an October 2014 interview. “They showed me all the role models out there that I could turn into and what I want for myself in the future.”

He attended several events with his sister through the years

Though Blaize wasn’t in the entertainment industry like his sister, he did support her at various events through the years. One of their earliest appearances together was at a Helping Hands event in 1992 (when Blaize was just a few months old). In the throwback photo, a young Raven-Symoné can be seen kissing her little brother on the cheek as he sits in his stroller.

Almost a decade later, the duo stepped out together again as they attended the premiere of Raven-Symoné’s 2001 film Dr. Dolittle 2. As they walked the red carpet hand-in-hand, they were photographed sporting coordinating sunglasses and denim looks.

The following year, Blaize and his mother Lydia accompanied Raven-Symoné to the 2002 NAACP Image Awards, where she was nominated for outstanding youth actor/actress for her role in the aforementioned Eddie Murphy film.

He regularly showed off their sweet bond on social media

In addition to supporting his sister at various events, Blaize often posted about his sister on Instagram, giving sweet glimpses of their bond. In 2019, he poked fun at his older sister like only a younger brother can as he celebrated her birthday by sharing a photo of her sleeping. “Happy Birthday @ravensymone embarrassing photos are the best!!! 😉,” he jokingly captioned the photo.

He was diagnosed with colon cancer two years before his death

As Raven-Symoné announced her brother’s death in December 2023, she revealed that he had colon cancer for about two years. “He is in a better place now,” she said in the video message shared to followers on her Instagram feed.

He died just before his 32nd birthday

Blaize died in November 2023, just before his 32nd birthday on Dec. 16. "I love you, Blaize," Raven-Symoné said in her video message announcing his death. She also noted that his birthday will continue to be celebrated by their family.

“His birthday is Dec. 16 and forever will be,” she said. “I love you, guys. My family on Instagram, my family at home and my family and friends. You guys have been such an amazing support system and I love you all."
