Razer partners Zouk Group to bring cloud clubbing livestream experience to ravers

As countries around the world are implementing quarantine measures, nightclubs have began livestreaming DJ sets on other platforms, such as TikTok, Kuaishou, and Douyin, China’s version of TikTok. According to news site Vice, nearly 2.3 million people tuned into Beijing club SIR TEEN's cloud rave on 10 February. In Singapore, this innovative approach is now catching on.

In light of yesterday’s announcement made by the Singapore government to close entertainment venues as part of the fight against COVID-19, Razer, Zouk Group and Bigo Live are joining forces to bring closed-door DJ sets played at Zouk Singapore to ravers.

During the set, viewers will be able to interact with the DJs via the live stream chat, as well as utilise Bigo Live’s functions such as sending virtual gifts with virtual credits Razer Gold or Razer Silver. A portion of any proceeds accumulated will be donated to the Singapore government to support the fight against COVID-19.

“Youth and millennials, especially those who play games, tend to make the best out of the worst situations,” said Tan Min-Liang, CEO and co-founder of Razer in a press statement shared with Yahoo Lifestyle SEA. “With COVID-19 calling for social distancing, Razer and our partners will unlock the potential of cloud clubbing in Southeast Asia and drive thousands of party-goers to the livestream.”

Andrew Li, CEO of Zouk Group, said, “With many countries on lockdown, we hope to be able to reach out to people through music, technology and social interaction on the virtual sphere. Through Razer and Bigo Live, we are moving the Zouk experience online, so that viewers from around the region or globally will still be able engage with the community right from their bedrooms.”
