Reacher's Alan Ritchson lands next lead movie role in Christmas comedy

Reacher star Alan Ritchson is set to star in the upcoming Christmas comedy The Man with the Bag, directed by Adam Shankman.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the festive plot will see Santa's magical bag of gifts stolen, forcing him to turn to his naughty list to find help.

He enlists the help of Vance (portrayed by Ritchson), a charming thief fresh out of prison who's trying to go straight while attempting to spend a normal, crime-free Christmas with his family.

With the help of his daughter and a group of misfit elves, Vance must pull off the greatest heist of his life to help Santa save the holidays.

Ritchson was a regular on the DC series Titans, playing Hank Hall, but broke through with Reacher, Amazon’s series based on the books by Lee Child.

The series smashed records and quickly became the first Prime Video show to hit number one on Nielsen's weekly streaming rankings.

It also became one of the platform's most-binged original series ever, as well as in its top five most-watched series in the United States and globally.

Earlier this year, Ritchson discussed being a Christian in Hollywood during a Zoom "prayer call" involving the cast and crew of Ordinary Angels.

Inspired by a true story, the film tells the tale of a hairdresser who rallies a community to help a widowed father save the life of his critically ill young daughter.

The actor said that when Christians get behind faith-based movies it "sends an important message to Hollywood" and called movie theatres the new "pulpit".

Reacher is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video. No release date has been announced for The Man with the Bag yet.
